As a Professional and Approved specialist in equine massage & bodywork, I follow a strict code of conduct with the IAAMT and the IAAMB.
By using various massage and stretching techniques along with MFR (myofascial release), I can enable the horse to perform to its full potential by:
◦ Increasing and improving circulation
◦ Enhancing muscle tone
◦ Relaxing muscle spasm
◦ Preventing and relieving adhesions
◦ Increasing the range of movement
Massage can benefit the well being of the animal, release tension and aid mental relaxation. In the event of an Injury, massage is of great benefit to aid recovery and prevent atrophy (wasting) of muscles.
All horses and ponies can benefit from an equine sports massage treatment whether for pre and/or post competition, during training, during and after box rest, or to be part of your animals routine care.
Trained in the Testt® process by Andy Thomas who has 32 years Chartered Physiotherapy experience. Andy has spent the last 20 years assessing over 14,000 riders, ranging from elite Olympic athletes to complete amateur novices, riding in all disciplines.
As a Testt® Certified Coach I have been educated in a hands off approach using functional testing exercises to identify and correct off horse asymmetries.
I have studied the fundamentals of human anatomy, muscle mechanics, proprioception and pain in riders.
My coaching skills have been enhanced by developing my knowledge in assessing and correcting on horse asymmetry using resistance bands and taping techniques, and feel I have a further tool in my vast toolbox to help horse and rider.
Founded in 2015 by sport psychologists Charlie Unwin and Sarah Huntley. The Advanced Centre10 course programme helps coaches and riders to apply the fundamentals of performance psychology in everyday training and competition to help them optimise their psychological potential. It’s about changing your mindset and improving your performance as a rider and as a person.
Centre10 has given me the tools to stand out from the crowd. I can be so much more than just another coach and was thrilled to receive the Breakthrough Award in April 2023, which was presented to the coach making the greatest transformation in their coaching practice.
As a British Horse Society Accredited Professional Coach (BHS APC) I have achieved a certain level of knowledge and experience – for me, I was assessed on my ability to coach riders for development upto Elementary dressage, BE100 and Foxhunter. I sat BHS Stages 1-4, PTT and ITT and passed them all and the qualification previously known as BHSII (Intermediate Instructor) is now referred to as a Senior Level 4 Coach in Complete Horsemanship.
I’ve also gained my BHS Level 5 Stable Managers Certificate now known as Level 5 Performance Centre Manager.
I can help candidates with their BHS exam preparation and sign off their skills record up-to and including Stage 3.
Becoming a Ride Safe Trainer and Assessor enables me to deliver this worthwhile training as well as delivering the Challenge Awards and Pony Stars programmes.
BHS APCs attend regular CPD; we’re always keeping our knowledge relevant and are up to date with safeguarding; we’re insured; we’re DBS checked and we’re qualified First Aiders!
